·         Relocation of johannesburg  RRO to Pretoria: comments from refugee communities

LHR wanted to know whether  members of our constituency have expressed any  dissatisfaction in the relocation of the JHB RRO to Pretoria.

Jacques on behalf of CBRMC elaborated saying that there are complaints mostly rlated to financial burden caused by a longer distance to cover before clients get services. The longer distance bigger the likeness of accidents. People could walk to reach Crown Mines which is almost impossible with Pretoria. Services should be located in the consumers’ surroundings.

We have also mentioned the possibility of having a big number of missing files a a immediate consequence of displacement.

Further, delays in service provision that have already been blamed on the relocation due to poor planning.  We blamed lack of collaboration between the DHA and stakeholder organisations in the sector.

LHR also wanted to know about our current constituency which we shared with them. We also briefly mentioned some major achievements.

At the end of the meeting, kaajal volunteered to finalised the requested documents that will be sent to us for amendment. These documents will help to lodge an application to request reopening of  RRO in Johannesburg.  This should be done in the course of this week. But the actual application should be finalised within two weeks.
